Main Visa Categories

– Age 6+ with welfare arrangements if under 18.
– Cost: From AUD 2,000 (exemptions for some Pacific/Timor-Leste applicants).
– Work rights: Limited during studies (48 hours/fortnight), unlimited in breaks.
– Post-study: Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) offers work experience.

 

3. Skilled Migration Visas
Australia prioritizes filling skill shortages.

Permanent Options:
– Skilled Independent (Subclass 189): Points-tested, no sponsorship needed. Live/work anywhere.
– Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190): State/territory nomination.
– Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491): Provisional, leads to PR after regional work.

– Requirements (General):
– Occupation on skilled list.
– Positive skills assessment.
– Invitation via Expression of Interest (EOI).
– Points test (minimum 65): Age, English, experience, qualifications, etc.
– Age under 45 for many streams.
– Competent English (e.g., IELTS/PTE).

 

4. Family and Partner Visas
– Partners, children, parents, or relatives of Australian citizens/PR holders.
– Sponsorship required; pathways to PR.

 

5. Business, Investment, and Other Visas
– Business Innovation and Investment.
– Working Holiday Maker visas for young people.
