Overview
The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship is a prestigious, fully funded opportunity offered by the UK Government through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC). It enables talented graduates from eligible Commonwealth countries — including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, and many others across Africa — to pursue a one-year taught Master’s degree at leading universities in the United Kingdom.
Designed to support sustainable development, the scholarship prioritises candidates who demonstrate strong academic ability and a clear commitment to addressing key challenges in their home countries. Priority fields typically include education, health, economic growth, climate and environment, governance, engineering, science and technology, and related areas critical to national progress.
Successful scholars receive comprehensive funding that covers full tuition fees, a monthly living stipend, return airfare, a study travel grant, and other allowances. Beyond the financial support, recipients join a distinguished network of Commonwealth alumni who are actively contributing to positive change across Africa and the wider Commonwealth.
For Nigerian and African applicants ready to combine academic excellence with a passion for development impact, the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship remains one of the most significant pathways to world-class postgraduate education in the UK.
