Job Title: Machinist
Location: Nigeria
Purpose
- To set up, operate, and maintain machine tools used in the fabrication, repair, and production of precision metal parts and components, ensuring high-quality workmanship that supports fleet maintenance and operational efficiency.
The Job
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, grinders, and other workshop equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to produce precision components.
- Set up machines and select the appropriate tools, materials, cutting speeds, and feeds for each job.
- Manufacture, modify, and repair metal parts and components according to required specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished products using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ensure all machining work meets quality standards, tolerances, and dimensional accuracy requirements.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to improve performance and product quality.
- Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of machine tools and workshop equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of machining activities, repairs, and completed jobs.
Qualification
- Minimum of five (5) O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in spray painting, preferably within a truck, automotive, fleet maintenance, or industrial workshop environment.
The Person Must:
- Possess strong machining skills with experience operating lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related equipment.
- Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality precision components.
- Have strong problem-solving abilities and a safety-conscious approach to workshop operations.
