The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially opened one of the largest recruitment exercises in recent Nigerian history, inviting qualified citizens to apply as ad-hoc staff for the 2027 general elections. Through its dedicated online platform, INECPRES (INEC Portal for Recruitment of Election Staff), the Commission is recruiting approximately 1.4 million temporary election personnel to be deployed across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide.
This massive nationwide drive covers key categories including Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre Managers (RAC Managers), and Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECHs). The portal opened at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 18 September 2026, and will close at midnight on Wednesday, 18 November 2026.
Eligible applicants include serving and recent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, students of federal and state tertiary institutions, eligible federal and state government employees, permanent staff of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), qualified ICT personnel, and other categories specified by INEC. The recruitment is completely free of charge and must be completed strictly through the official INECPRES portal.
