Job Title: Senior Account Officer
Location: Lagos

Reporting to: Direct reporting to Assistant Head of Accounts
Job Summary
- The Senior Account Officer will support the Assistant Head of Accounts in managing the organization’s financial operations, reporting, compliance, and ensuring the effective execution of accounting procedures.
- Maintaining internal controls, handling tax-related activities, and supportingstrategic financial planning.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy of daily posting of all transactions into the Accounting System with minimum error rate.
- Responsible for the preparation of the monthly ECL Provision on Loans & Advances, Placements and Staff Loan impairment testing.
- Responsible for management of the Fixed Assets Register and preparation of the monthly Fixed Asset schedule including additions and disposal.
- Responsible for management of the Bank’s ROU assets, and Lease liabilities including preparation of relevant accounting schedules.
- Responsible for maintaining and reconciling monthly Loan and Deposits schedule with the GL balance.
- Responsible for preparation of the GL proofs and schedules of all Account Receivables and Payables.
- Responsible for processing the general staff monthly payroll and benefits (Journal Entries and Posting into the system).
- Ensure strict compliance with the Bank’s Accounting Policy, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), CBN Microfinance Regulatory Frameworks, Relevant Tax Laws, Circulars, and Guidelines.
- Responsible for preparation and submission of the Monthly CBN Report to the Regulator.
- Responsible for prompt remittance of all statutory deductions (PAYE, Pension, NHF, WHT, EMTL etc).
- Responsible for preparation and proper filing of all statutory deductions schedule monthly (PAYE, Pension, NSITF, NHF, WHT, EMTL etc).
- Responsible for filing of Annual Tax Returns to relevant State Internal Revenue Service.
- Responsible for filing of Annual Tax Return to the Federal Internal Revenue Service.
- Responsible for coordination and management of the Annual Tax Audit Exercise by the Federal and State Tax Authorities with the Bank’s Tax Consultant.
- Processing of the Annual Tax Clearance Certificate for the Bank and the staff.
Qualifications
- The ideal person must possess a minimum qualification of a good first degree
- He must possess a relevant professional certification of ACA, ACCA.
- He must possess a minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience in Finance and Accounts Functions of a National Microfinance Bank or a Commercial Bank.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to promptly identify and address project risks and issues.

Technical Competence:
- He must be trained and proficient in the use of all basic and several advanced Microsoft Office applications, Banking and Accounting software including:
- Microsoft Advance Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Globus Temenos T24 Banking Application
- Sage Pastel and Sage X3 Accounting Package
- Financial analysis and modeling tools
- Indepth knowledge of IFRS and FRCN Rules
Status:
- Local contract with Baobab Microfinance Bank, Nigeria.
