Job Title: Plant Engineering Manager
Location: Challawa, Kano
About the Role
- Plant Engineering Manager will be leading the engineering function to ensure world-class asset reliabilities, maintenance excellence, operational efficiencies, and compliance across the manufacturing lines.
- You will drive the implementation of maintenance strategies aligned with Group and Regional Asset Care standards, oversee engineering budgets, capital investments and develop engineering talent to support business growth.
- You will play a key role in ensuring plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and sustainably while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, performance management, and safety excellence.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain maintenance systems aligned with Group and Regional Asset Care strategies.
- Lead preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance of all assets in the plant.
- Lead annual reviews of maintenance systems, standards, and engineering practices.
- Develop and manage the engineering budget in line with business requirements.
- Monitor engineering expenditure and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Conduct engineering capability assessments and identify future development needs.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership support to direct reports.
- Build a high-performance engineering culture through effective people management.
- Ensure engineering-related risks and operational issues are communicated effectively.
- Support operational planning processes and contribute to business continuity initiatives.
- Conduct regular reviews of engineering systems, processes, and routines.
- Implement corrective actions for identified engineering and maintenance gaps.
- Benchmark engineering practices against global best practices and drive improvements.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, maintenance standards, and engineering governance requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance systems and engineering processes.
- Promote the adoption of new technologies, maintenance methodologies, and asset management practices.
- Support the implementation of engineering innovations that improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all engineering and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or other related engineering discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) and COREN certifications will be an added advantage.
- 7 to 10 years’ engineering experience within FMCG manufacturing environments.
- At least 3 years of experience in a management role.
- Strong experience in maintenance management, asset care management, utilities operations, and reliabilities engineering.
- Knowledge of maintenance systems, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement methodologies.
