HBM Nigeria Plc (Formerly Lafarge Africa Plc) is seeking a skilled and responsible Mechanical Craftsman to support the maintenance, repair, functionality, and reliable operation of mechanical equipment and machinery across its operations. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with experience in mechanical maintenance, fitting, industrial machinery, plant maintenance, equipment repairs, manufacturing, engineering operations, or related technical fields.

Job Title: Mechanical Craftsman

Location: Ewekoro, Ogun

Role Purpose

  • Ensure that mechanical maintenance and repairs are carried out on plant equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules to facilitate smooth and reliable operations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance on plant equipment (belts) as per schedule and using job plans, taking into consideration all safety precautions.
  • Repair mechanical equipment (belts) in the event of breakdowns.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs (belts) at any time of the day when called upon by superiors.
  • Report, through breakdown reports, the causes of breakdowns, remedies undertaken and spares used to superiors.
  • Ensure the proper and correct use of tools.
  • Ensure the workplace is left clean after repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Follow and respect the on-call/shift system in accordance with plant rules.
  • Be disciplined and respectful towards colleagues and peers.
  • Comply with EMS Mechanical Instrumentation activities.
  • Ensure involvement in the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System in the plant.

 

Requirements
Educational Qualification and Other Requirements:

  • Trade Test I, II or III, or City & Guilds qualification.

 

Critical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of work and safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of belt repair and vulcanisation.

Critical Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in belt repair and vulcanisation.
