Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHIN) is seeking a dedicated and analytical Research Officer to support research activities, data collection, analysis, documentation, and evidence-based health programs focused on underserved and vulnerable communities. Description

As we expand our impact, we seek a dedicated professional to support the design, coordination, and execution of SRHIN’s research studies, and lead data-driven decision-making to strengthen evidence-based programming for slum and rural communities.
Role Overview
- Support the design, coordination, and execution of SRHIN’s research studies, and lead data-driven decision-making to strengthen evidence-based programming for slum and rural communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement research protocols, tools, and methodologies for SRHIN’s studies
- Coordinate data collection activities across field sites, ensuring quality and adherence to ethical standards
- Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and produce research reports, briefs, and publications
- Support grant proposal development and research funding applications
- Supervise and provide guidance to Research Assistants and field data collection teams
- Liaise with community stakeholders, partners, and regulatory bodies (e.g. ethics committees) on research activities
- Contribute to the translation of research findings into policy and programme recommendations
- Maintain accurate research documentation, records, and data management systems
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, or a related field (Master’s degree an advantage)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in research coordination, data collection, or related research work
- Strong quantitative/qualitative research and analytical skills, with proficiency in relevant statistical software (e.g. SPSS, STATA, R)
- Experience with research ethics and regulatory compliance processes
- Excellent report-writing, communication, and supervisory skills
- Experience conducting research in low-resource, slum, or rural community settings is an advantage
